565: Dr. Brad Schaeffer – He’s a bro, athlete, Doctor who happens to be gay!

He went from Christian Athlete to married straight guy, to focused on medical school and has catapulted his Podiatry practice to heights he never thought possible. Oh, and he finally freed himself to live his gay truth. Blowing up every box in his life, Dr. Brad Schaeffer shares his journey of coming out of the closet like a true Titan, to live his truth, and why it was so important for him to breakdown the stereotypes that held him back.

About Brad

Dr. Brad Schaeffer [“Dr. Brad”] is a board-certified podiatrist and foot surgeon with the ABFAS [American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery]. He is the owner of Central Park SOLE, the state-of-the art head-to-toe wellness practice on the upper west side of NYC.

Dr. Brad helps people get back on their feet, literally and figuratively, to enjoy the activities and life they love and deserve. With a focus on sports medicine, foot & ankle reconstructive surgery, regenerative medicine, and aesthetic procedures, he offers a myriad of innovative, preventive, and effective treatments to alleviate a wide range of issues, from simpler, uncomfortable symptoms and issues to complex surgical solutions.

He was recently recognized as one of the three finalists in Men’s Health Magazine’s Ultimate Men’s Health Guy Contest 2023 for his hard work, humility, integrity, and the belief that each of us can always do a little better. Formerly, he competed, and was a finalist, in NBC’s The Titan Games, hosted by executive producer Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Dr. Brad continues to share his love of fitness on his motivational fitness portal “Nothing but NET [No Excuses Team],” simply to share and generate interactive excitement about fitness.

Now an IG sensation, it is where he continues to spread his message of perseverance, health, and wellness. He lives by the motto “Ambition is the path to success. Persistence is the vehicle you arrive in!” Dr. Brad can also be seen on the popular TLC show, My Feet Are Killing Me, where he is known to bring compassion and expertise of Podiatric Medicine to patient’s lives. My Feet Are Killing Me follows Dr. Brad and two colleague podiatrists who radically transform the feet and lives of their patients.

He is a proud member and advocate for the LGBTQ+ community. His public coming out story was featured on NBC News’ Today.com and continues to reverberate across straight and queer media. After graduating with an undergraduate degree in Biology from Palm Beach Atlantic University in Florida, where he played collegiate level baseball, he returned to his hometown of Philadelphia to attend Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine. A 3-year comprehensive Foot & Ankle Reconstructive Surgical Residency at Hoboken University Medical Center followed, and Dr. Brad continues to train and craft his skillset in cutting edge surgical techniques and regenerative medicine.

He is the proud uncle to his niece and nephew, is an avid Phillies fan, and spends any free time he has biking, running, and traveling. He dedicates time to various organizations including the Arthritis Foundation and as a spokesperson for Dr. Scholl’s.
