Make Your Move Live

You know something isn't working in your gay life.
What are you going to do about it?

Maybe it’s your work. Your relationship. Dating. Your social life. Where you live.
Or maybe you can’t even name the answer yet.
You just know you’re tired of having the same conversation with yourself and ending up in the same place.

Bring one real situation from your life to Make Your Move Live.
In this 60-minute live session, Rick Clemons will challenge you to look
at what’s actually keeping you where you are, get clearer about what you want to do next,
and choose one move that is yours to make.

You don’t need your whole life figured out. You need somewhere to start.

Do what matters. Dump what doesn't.
Stop F*cking Settling.

That doesn’t mean blowing up your life every time something feels uncomfortable.
Sometimes your move is leaving. Sometimes it’s staying and finally having the conversation.
Sometimes it’s applying for the job, deleting the app, calling the guy, changing the plan,
setting the boundary, asking for what you want, or admitting that what worked ten years ago doesn’t work for you now.

And sometimes your first move is simply getting honest enough to say: “I have no damn idea what comes next.”

Make Your Move Live gives you a place to work on the one that is yours.

Maybe you don't know what to do.

You can feel that something is off without having a clean answer for it.
You know you’re bored at work, but you don’t know whether you need a different job or an entirely different direction.
You know your relationship has changed, but you’re not sure what that means.
You want stronger friendships, a different dating life, more connection, more freedom, something new.
You just can’t seem to name what “new” looks like yet.

Rick hears versions of this all the time: “I don’t know what to do.” “I don’t know what to do next.” “What if I make the wrong move?”

You do not have to arrive at Make Your Move Live already knowing the answer. Bring the situation. We’ll start there.

Or maybe you already know.

This guy has a different problem. You know you need to have the conversation.
You know you’re done with the job. You know you keep dating the same kind of man and calling it bad luck.
You know you want to move. You know you need more people in your life.
You know you’ve been saying, “I’m going to...” for six months.

And yet, nothing.

That doesn’t automatically mean you need more information.
It may mean you finally need to look at what keeps happening between knowing and doing.

What are you still putting up with?

Most of us like to imagine we’ll know when something is bad enough to change. Sometimes that happens.
More often, we adjust.

The job is tolerable. The relationship is okay. Dating is annoying, so we stop trying.
We want more friends, but we keep waiting for somebody else to make the first move.
We tell ourselves we’ll deal with it after work slows down, after the holidays, after the trip,
after the birthday, after we feel more certain.

Nothing is on fire, so nothing has to change today.
That is how a temporary compromise can become another year of your life.

The question for this session is not, “How do I completely reinvent myself?”

It’s much simpler:

What are you ready to stop carrying forward the same way?

What we'll do together

This is a working session. You are not coming to sit quietly while Rick talks at you for an hour about living your best gay life. Bring something real.

During the session, Rick will guide you through four pieces.

  1. Name what isn’t working. Get specific. Not “my life feels off.” What is actually happening?
  2. Look at why you’re still there. Fear of making the wrong choice? Rejection? What somebody thinks? Comfort? Habit? Not knowing the alternative? You don’t need to force an answer. You do need to be willing to look.
  3. Decide what you want to do next. Rick is not going to hand you the answer. He’ll ask the questions. You decide what fits.
  4. Choose one move. Not a 47-step life overhaul. Something real enough that you know what happens next when you leave the room.

Rick isn't teaching this from the sidelines

A while back, Rick got laid off from his full-time job. And no, he did not wake up the next morning
with a beautifully laminated five-year plan.

He found himself asking the same question a lot of his clients ask: What’s next?

In one recent conversation, Rick put it plainly: “I don’t know what the next thing is.”

Then he started looking at the possibilities. Build the coaching practice. Go back to art. Explore voiceover work.
Try something he had not considered yet.

He did not need to immediately pick the rest of his life. He needed to stop treating the future like it had
only one correct answer. Rick has described simply naming those possibilities out loud as something
that changed the way he was thinking about what could happen next.

He is 63. He has come out, rebuilt a life, navigated marriage and divorce, changed careers, dealt with layoffs,
built a business, paid off debt, watched priorities change, and had to ask himself more than once:
Okay. Now what?

Rick is not asking you to do something he has never had to do himself.

Rick will challenge you.
He will not choose your life for you.

Brian G. described Rick’s approach this way:

“He never directed me to do anything. He never gave me a recipe for how to live my life.
He simply asked questions that allowed me to make my own decisions and to chart my own path.”

That is how Rick works. He will question you. He may challenge the story you have been repeating.
He may point out the place where your explanation and your behavior do not match.

But he does not get to decide what your move is. You do.

And, yes, the point is to actually move something.

Jeffrey came to Rick with a lifelong goal he had been procrastinating on endlessly.
Rick helped him work through the procrastination and achieve the goal.

Garrett came to Rick feeling like his life was “on repeat.” Over time,
the work translated into concrete action: he moved to a new city, began making friends and started dating again.

Different problems. Different moves. That is the point.

This room is for you if...

You do not have to be in crisis. You may have a good life. You may have built a career, a relationship, a home, a circle of friends and plenty of things you’re grateful for. And one part can still be asking for your attention.

Make Your Move Live is built for the gay man over 40 who recognizes himself somewhere in this:

  • You have talked about the same problem longer than you want to admit.
  • You know something needs to change but you have not decided what.
  • You know what you want and keep putting it off.
  • You are worried you will make the wrong choice.
  • You keep waiting to feel more confident first.
  • You have done the thinking, reading, therapy, listening or processing and your behavior still has not changed.
  • You want better questions without being told how your life should look.

If none of that sounds like you, enjoy your day. Seriously. You probably do not need this.

You don't need another guru with your answer

Rick’s audience is smart. A lot of you have read the books, listened to the podcasts, done therapy, talked to friends, and spent months in your own head.

The goal of Make Your Move Live is not to erase any of that. It is to ask a more practical question:

Has what you know changed what you're doing?

If yes, fantastic. If not, bring that gap with you.

What you will leave with

You may not leave knowing exactly where you will live five years from now, who you will be dating, or how every part of your life will unfold.

But if you participate, you should leave with a clearer view of the situation you brought, a better understanding of what has kept you from moving, and one action you have chosen for yourself.

That is the promise. No magical breakthrough required. No personality transplant. Just a real place to start.

MAKE YOUR MOVE LIVE

You know something isn't working.
